Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities: (this is not an inclusive list, other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management)

 

  • Verify dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers;
  • Machine parts to specifications in accordance with engineering drawings, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders;
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations;
  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers;
  • Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs;
  • Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues;
  • Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects;
  • Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations;
  • Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal;
  • Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts;
  • Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability;
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages;
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and programs.

 

Health & Safety:

 

  • Work SMART and work SAFE – follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures;
  • Must wear the proper PPE as per company policy;
  • Housekeeping – ensure proper storage of all tools, area is kept clean and tidy; no slip trip or fall hazards are present, and all materials are stored in the proper container/cabinet;
  • Ensure that equipment is in proper working order, if applicable conduct pre and post work inspections on your tools/equipment.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Highly organized, well-planned, productive, self-directed individual who requires minimal supervision, and is able to meet tight production timelines;
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills, possess the ability to make decision and to influence others;
  • Ability to use general assembly tools – impact gun, torque wrench, etc.;
  • Willing to work in a team environment, possess solid work ethic, and pays attention to detail;
  • Ability to operate hoist and lifting equipment, prepare jigs;
  • Ability to use general assembly tools – impact gun, torque wrench, etc.;
  • Collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value;
  • Exposure to or have worked in an environment where Lean/Six Sigma principles were practiced.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma / GED and certificate in Machining is a must;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (radial drilling, lathes, grinders etc.);
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) take accurate measurements;
  • Knowledge of properties of metal and other material;
  • Intermediate mathematical skills is required;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Must know how to read blueprints/drawings and follow engineering instructions.

 

Working Environment:

 

The physical environment requires the employee to work in heat/cold, humid, and dry/arid conditions. Must use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to elements such as dust, fumes, noise, and odors. This position may include lifting up to 50 lbs. at times.  Stand for long periods of time, bend, twist, and reach (overhead, waist level) from the floor.  My be requested to work overtime and weekends.

 

 

Pay Rate: $25/Hr

Shift 7am-3:15pm Monday to Friday – Overtime and Saturdays During Peak Times
