We offer the following courses on a monthly basis.

Courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provide the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies depending on the level of CPR chosen. Courses meet legislative requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and include the latest CPR guidelines and training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). All participants are taught by an expert certified Red Cross instructor with years of experience teaching First Aid and CPR.

Instructor are recognized by the Canadian Red Cross, a world leader in First Aid & CPR, and meet the regulations of both the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) as well as, Ontario Health & Safety (OHS) for Basic First Aid.

Safe Management Group is a leader in Crisis Intervention and Prevention training programs in Canada across a variety of settings including Healthcare, Community, Residential Programs and more.

The majority of our clients do ask that our staff have SMG. Because we work with clients who have mental health and developmental disabilities, it helps that staff have this extra behavioral certificate to assist the residents, staff, and other clients. Open your work opportunities either with Front Line Work Force or looking for other work outside of Front Line Work Force. Advance your resume.

If you prefer to work in group homes, we highly suggest you take this training to allow you to work even more specialized locations.

We offer the course once a month. The total is $125.00 (+ HST). You will receive your certificate once your tests are marked.

This course provides an overview of medication administration for staff and caregivers working in group home and residential treatment settings. The courses focus on 4 main areas of content:

1) Legislative Requirements and Best Practice Approaches
2) Medication Rights
3) Medication Handling (including storage, dispensing and disposal)
4) Proper Documentation and Reporting.

The training should take approximately 4-6 hours to complete. You will be required to complete a test at the end of the course to obtain your certificate of completion.

Our instructors are trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® by the Crisis Prevention Institute
With a focus on prevention, this core training program equips staff and students with proven strategies for safely diffusing de-escalation of risk behaviors or even disruptive behaviors. It’s been setting the standard for crisis prevention and intervention training for over 35 years. Reduce the risk of injury. Our staff and students learn how to.
• Comply with legislative mandates.
• Meet regulatory/accreditation standards.
• Improve staff retention.
• Minimize exposure to liability.
• Promote Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security SM.
The CPI training program in nonviolent crisis intervention provides participants with proven strategies for safely defusing anxious, hostile, or violent behavior at the earliest possible stage. Included in the workshop are topics such as recognition of behavior levels in a crisis, paraverbal communication, precipitating factors, staff fear and anxiety, decision making, disengagement skills, holding skills and postvention debriefing.
