Position Overview
The EarlyON (ECE) Worker provides support within the EarlyON program, working collaboratively with program staff to deliver engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate programming for children, parents, and caregivers.
This role supports family engagement, early childhood development, and access to community resources, while ensuring all activities align with agency policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
Reports to: Program Director
Key Responsibilities
EarlyON Program Support (85%)
• Work collaboratively with the EarlyON Facilitator and Children & Program Coordinator to support program delivery
• Assist in planning and implementing EarlyON programming and activities
• Participate in facilitating programs for children, parents, and caregivers
• Help identify families who may require additional supports
• Provide information, referrals, and access to community resources
• Support program operations when staffing shortages occur within the Children and Youth department
Program Support & Administrative Duties (15%)
• Attend and participate in regular staff meetings
• Provide additional support and complete assigned tasks as required
Seasonal / Summer Program Duties
• Visit and support community garden initiatives (May–June, twice weekly)
• Coordinate with garden volunteers and confirm required supplies
• Facilitate family garden visits (July–August, weekly mornings)
• Assist with harvesting and maintaining garden produce
• Support outdoor programming including park visits and family engagement activities
Qualifications & Requirements
• Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• First Aid & CPR Certification (required prior to start date)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Professional, positive, and client-focused approach
• Ability to follow direction and adhere to policies and procedures
• Experience working with children and families in community or program settings is considered an asset
