Child & Youth Worker (CYW) – Mental Health Residential Support

Front Line Work Force Inc.

📍 Locations: Toronto, Peel Region, and surrounding areas
🏠 Work Environment: Residential homes and shelter programs supporting youth and young adults experiencing mental health and behavioural challenges.

Job Type

Full-time • Part-time • Casual

Schedule

Shifts available include:

• Day shifts
• Afternoon shifts
• Evening shifts
• Weekends and statutory holidays

Flexible availability is an asset.

 


About the Role

Front Line Work Force Inc. is seeking dedicated and compassionate Child & Youth Workers (CYW) to support individuals living in residential and community-based programs who are experiencing mental health, behavioural, and emotional challenges.

This role focuses on providing structured support, life skills development, and behavioural guidance to youth and young adults while promoting independence, stability, and personal growth.

Our clients rely on trained professionals who can build positive relationships, manage challenging behaviours, and create safe and supportive environments for residents.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Support

• Provide daily supervision and support to residents within residential environments
• Assist with daily routines and personal development goals
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social interaction

Program Support

• Participate in structured programs and recreational activities
• Support life skills training including communication, social skills, and daily living tasks
• Assist residents with community participation and appointments

Behavioural Support

• Support individuals experiencing behavioural or emotional challenges
• Use positive behaviour management techniques to de-escalate situations
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment

Residential Support

• Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the residence
• Support daily household routines and ensure a safe living environment

Documentation

• Complete daily logs, incident reports, and behavioural documentation
• Maintain accurate records according to agency and Ministry standards
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

 


Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• Child & Youth Worker (CYW) Diploma or related field (SSW or similar)
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention or similar behaviour management certification
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check

Experience supporting individuals with mental health, behavioural challenges, or residential care environments is considered an asset.

 


Physical Requirements

This role may require:

• Standing or walking for extended periods
• Repetitive bending, twisting, and lifting
• Supervising residents throughout the facility
