Position Overview

Front Line Work Force Inc. is currently seeking Developmental Support Workers (DSW) to support individuals living in group home environments across Toronto and surrounding areas.

This role contributes to the delivery of individualized supports and programs that enhance the independence, life skills, and community participation of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Successful candidates will work as part of a support team to implement life plans, assist with daily living activities, and provide emotional and behavioural support to individuals in residential care.

 


Key Responsibilities

Client Support

• Provide direct care and support to individuals in residential group home settings
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care and hygiene
• Support individuals in developing independence and life skills

Program Support

• Participate in life planning sessions and assist in implementing individualized life plans
• Support recreational, educational, and community activities
• Monitor and document progress toward personal goals

Behavioural & Crisis Support

• Provide crisis intervention when necessary
• Support individuals experiencing behavioural challenges
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment

Health & Safety

• Assist with medication administration and physical care
• Use specialized equipment such as wheelchairs, lifts, and assistive devices
• Follow health and safety procedures and program policies

Documentation & Communication

• Maintain accurate documentation and daily reports
• Communicate with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Support a respectful and safe environment for residents

 


Experience

• Minimum 6 months experience working in developmental services or a related field
• Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in residential settings is considered an asset
• Knowledge of healthcare procedures and assistive equipment is beneficial

 


Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• Developmental Service Worker (DSW) Certificate
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check (within the last year)
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention or SMG – Safe Management Certificate
• Up-to-date immunizations including TB test
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination including booster, subject to accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code

valid driver’s license is considered an asset.
