Rotational schedule Monday – Sunday
Must be available to work rotational weekends

Position Summary

Front Line Work Force Inc. is currently seeking an Assistant Cook to support the Head Cook in preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for residents.

The Assistant Cook plays an important role in creating a positive dining experience while maintaining food safety, sanitation, and dietary standards appropriate for seniors.

 


Key Responsibilities

Meal Preparation

• Assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals for residents
• Support menu preparation using quality ingredients and professional cooking techniques
• Assist with preparing meals that reflect Polish and European cuisine styles
• Prepare alternative meal options when required

Food Safety & Kitchen Operations

• Follow proper food storage and handling procedures including First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices
• Maintain food quality while minimizing waste and spoilage
• Follow sanitation standards and food safety procedures

Kitchen Maintenance

• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace
• Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment including stoves, work tables, coolers, and storage areas
• Support dietary staff and kitchen team members as needed

Resident Dining Experience

• Provide courteous and professional service
• Maintain awareness of the nutritional needs of older adults
• Assist with preparing special occasion items such as cakes for celebrations and resident events

Compliance & Safety

• Follow all departmental policies related to hygiene, sanitation, fire safety, and health and safety
• Participate in required training and in-service programs
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Administrator

 


Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Experience in quantity food preparation
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide and therapeutic diets

Knowledge of the following is considered an asset:

• HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
• WHMIS
• Occupational Health and Safety procedures
• Sanitation and food safety codes

 


Employment Requirements

Candidates must provide:

• Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Two-Step TB Test
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (two doses)

 


Physical Requirements

The position may require:

• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Lifting heavy kitchen supplies or equipment
• Working in warm kitchen environments
