Position Overview

Front Line Work Force Inc. is currently seeking an Adult Drop-In Cook to support a community-based program serving approximately 150 clients daily.

The Cook is responsible for meal preparation, food service, and maintaining kitchen operations, ensuring all meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and in accordance with public health standards.

Reports To: Adult Programming Coordinator

Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service

• Prepare and serve meals for approximately 150 clients daily
• Execute food production in accordance with food standards and portion guidelines
• Maintain familiarity with all menu items and assist with food selection when required

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Follow all workplace regulations, policies, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and public health standards
• Handle, store, and prepare food safely
• Report unsafe conditions and maintain a safe working environment

Client Interaction

• Greet clients in a professional and respectful manner
• Respond to questions and address concerns appropriately
• Provide a welcoming and inclusive service environment

Kitchen Operations

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and designated work areas
• Ensure all kitchen tools and equipment are used safely
• Follow cleaning schedules and hygiene standards

Professional Standards

• Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor
• Follow dress code or uniform requirements
• Work collaboratively with team members and program staff

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Diploma or certification in Food Services or Culinary Arts (asset)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the food service industry
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, safety, and kitchen operations
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a diverse setting
