Developmental Support Worker (DSW) – Mental Health Residential Support

Front Line Work Force Inc.

📍 Locations: Toronto, Peel Region, and surrounding areas
🏠 Work Environment: Residential homes and shelter programs supporting adults (18+) with severe and persistent mental health challenges.

Full-time • Part-time • Casual

Schedule

Shifts available include:

• Day shifts
• Afternoon shifts
• Evening shifts
• Weekends and statutory holidays

Flexible availability is an asset.

 


About the Role

Front Line Work Force Inc. is seeking dedicated and compassionate Developmental Support Workers (DSW) to support adults living in residential and group home environments who are experiencing severe and persistent mental health and behavioural challenges.

This role focuses on providing direct support, life skills development, and behavioural support while helping individuals maintain stability and independence within a structured residential environment.

Our clients rely on trained professionals who can manage challenging behaviours, provide emotional support, and ensure residents live in a safe and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Support

• Provide daily supervision and support to residents within group home environments
• Assist with personal care and daily living activities when required
• Encourage independence and support residents in maintaining daily routines

Life Skills Development

• Support residents with life skills training, including household tasks and community participation
• Encourage social interaction and positive coping strategies
• Support individualized care plans and personal goals

Behavioural Support

• Assist individuals experiencing behavioural challenges using positive behaviour management techniques
• Respond calmly and appropriately during crisis situations

Medication & Health Support

• Ensure residents follow prescribed medication routines
• Witness medication administration and document where required

Residential Support

• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the residence
• Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a safe environment

Documentation

• Complete daily logs, incident reports, and medication documentation
• Maintain accurate records according to agency and Ministry standards
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

 


Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• Developmental Service Worker (DSW) Diploma
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention or similar behaviour management certification
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check

Experience supporting individuals with mental health, behavioural challenges, or developmental disabilities is considered an asset.

 


Physical Requirements

This role may require:

• Standing or walking for extended periods
• Repetitive bending, twisting, and lifting
• Supervising residents throughout the facility
