Front Line Work Force Inc. is currently seeking Developmental Support Workers to support guests in a residential summer camp program for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Staff will assist with daily living support, personal care, and recreational programming while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of guests in a positive and supportive environment.
• Ensure all day-to-day needs of guests are met
• Assist guests with personal care including showering, toileting, grooming, and hygiene
• Ensure dietary and healthcare needs are met
• Plan and implement recreational activities appropriate to guest needs and abilities
• Adapt activities to support inclusion and participation
• Encourage positive social interactions and engagement
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to support guests
• Assist with de-escalation when required
• Document and report any incidents
• Complete guest reports and communications for families
• Communicate regularly with co-counsellors and program staff about guest needs
• Attend and contribute to staff meetings
• Follow all organizational policies and procedures
• Support a positive team environment
• Organized and dependable
• Compassionate and patient
• High energy and enthusiastic
• Works well in a team environment
• Adaptable and able to think quickly in changing situations
Preferred qualifications include:
• 1+ year experience supporting individuals with special needs (asset)
• 1+ year experience in recreational programs or activity planning (asset)
• Post-secondary education in Developmental Services, Child & Youth Care, Social Services, or a related field (asset)
Required certifications:
• First Aid / CPR / AED Certification
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (minimum two doses)
